Habari Lodge Complex

The Habari Lodge Complex is set in the beautiful hills of Arusha and is located directly across the street from the dirt road that leads to the Maasai Joy Children’s Centre. There are a number of lodges within the complex, and each lodge has a variety of room choices (from singles to doubles to group housing), shared bathrooms with hot showers and modern toilets, a relaxing common room with plenty of seats for visitors, a TV, and a kitchen.

The Habari lodges, along with other residences, are set in a secure compound with a gated and guarded entrance from the main road. The staff at the Habari lodge are pleasant and helpful and work hard to make your stay enjoyable. If you prefer to book a hotel in the near-by town of Arusha rather than staying in the lodge, this is fine, but you will need to arrange your own transportation to the school.

Transport

Habari Lodge is a peaceful 40 minute walk from Maasai Joy. Along the way you will pass local people performing their everyday duties such as harvesting, herding the animals, walking to and from their jobs. If you prefer, you can be picked up and dropped off from the lodge to the school on a daily basis (Monday Friday) at no extra cost. If you have booked your own hotel, transportation to the school will be your responsibility.

Meals

Breakfast and lunch are provided to volunteers. For dinner, Habari stocks their kitchen with bottled water and a variety of foods for cooking dinner; you are asked to pay a small fee for each item you take, or for a small fee a cook can be arranged to prepare your dinners.
